Judging timeline is as follows:

  • First Round: begins January 1 and ends January 31.
  • Second Round: begins February 7 and ends February 14.
  • Grand Prize Round: begins February 16 and ends February 21.

Judge Contact Information

Your Contact Information will be held in the closest confidentiality. At no time will your information be shared or sold, and will only be used to contact you if necessary and to provide you with your judging assignments.

Judging Preferences

Your selections will tell us what age division (Junior, 11 - 14; or Senior, 15 - 18) and categories (Essay, Poem, Short Story) you wish to judge. You may select one or both divisions and one, two, or all three categories.

Conflict of Interest?

Please indicate below whether you know of a child who is entering this year's competition. If you do, please provide the name and age of the child. This is to ensure that you are not assigned entries which could create a conflict of interest.

Terms and Conditions

I agree to judge each entry on its own basis in accordance with EPIC's New Voices Young Writers (NVYW) Judge Guidelines. I will maintain contact with the NVYW Judge Coordinator or Competitions Chair, referring all issues with received entries to him/her as soon as possible. I will handle scores, my opinions, and other information during this judging process (including the names and the authors of the works assigned to me) with complete confidentiality.

Should I breach confidentiality by sharing any specifics related to my judging assignment with anyone other than the NVYW Judge Coordinator or Competitions Chair, my scores will be discarded and I may be barred from participating in any of EPIC's competitions at the discretion of the Competition Committee and Competitions Chair.
